Spider veins are small, damaged blood vessels that appear on the surface of the skin as red, purple, or blue lines on the face and body. While harmless, they are a common aesthetic concern that can affect confidence.

Fotona laser spider vein removal uses long-pulse Nd:YAG laser energy at 1064nm to precisely target and collapse visible spider veins without needles or surgery. The laser energy is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood, converting it to heat that seals the vein wall and causes it to gradually fade and disappear. Surrounding skin tissue remains completely unaffected.

WHAT TO EXPECT 

A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area before the session. The Fotona laser handpiece is passed over the spider veins, delivering precise Nd:YAG energy that targets the blood vessel without affecting surrounding skin. A mild stinging or warming sensation may be felt during treatment. Sessions typically take 20 to 45 minutes depending on the area and number of veins treated.

Some redness and mild swelling is normal immediately after treatment and typically resolves within a few hours to a few days.

  • No. This treatment is designed for small to medium spider veins on the surface of the skin. Large, bulging varicose veins require a different medical procedure and should be assessed by a vascular specialist.

  • Cool the treated area with cold packs after the session. Avoid massaging or rubbing the skin for 5 to 7 days. Avoid harsh soaps, alcohol-based products, and scrubs for several days. Avoid hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms for 2 weeks. Avoid sun exposure for one month and apply SPF 50 daily. Reduce physical activity for one week. If veins were treated on the legs, compression stockings are recommended for 7 to 10 days.
